Here’s a picture of me and Joe Jonas.
I’m in the back.
This is pretty much the most significant thing that’s happened to me so far, so I figured we’d best start here.
Joe Jonas was out playing putt putt with friends when this picture was taken.
I was with a friend by the name of Collin Klenke.
We both looked at Joe, and – observing the muted hubbub of putt putt bar around us – realized that this guy (Joe Jonas) was a sort of a big deal.
Even among his friends he was sort of a big deal. He was with two other people who were both fawning over him maybe just a little bit, but it wasn’t clear if they were fawning over him because he was Joe Jonas and really famous, OR because he was SUPER good at putt putt.
And let me tell ya. Joe Jonas was SUPER good at putt putt. He kept having to do that thing where you feign confusion to make everybody feel better:
This doesn’t usually happen to me
I don’t know what’s going on
I’ve NEVER played this good
Joe Jonas got multiple hole in ones. And this wasn’t some dinky, putt putt millionaire for kids putt putt course. This course was for adults. It was hard. There were platforms, pipes as skinny as needles, halfpipes, ramps, and varied obstructions. Joe Jonas was sinking putts like Scottie Scheffler on Sunday, not even really caring that much that he’s winning because golf isn’t his #1, family is.
Because it’s not about putt putt, it’s about family.
I was just trying to mind my own business – not so easy when you’ve got a super famous, putt putt pro among you – and when I retrieved my ball after another just average hole for me, I realized that I was going to be in this picture.
At this point, I pretty much assuming that Joe Jonas is a putt putt champion, and the nice lady in the photo – who airdropped me this photo and told me, yeah, he’s Joe Jonas – was simply a fan of his putt putt prowress.
But alas, he was not. He was Joe Jonas.
Anyway.
