THIS DAY WENT BACK TO NOT GOING WELL.

I got my first rejection. I went up to somebody… on rollarblades! playing fun (fun!!!) music, had a vibe going! and they said no thank you.

Super fair.

I was on my way to work so I just kept zooming along. Except now I’m in my head: can I still… do this? Before I was feeling like this is no problem, now I’m back to being like I don’t know if I have the guts to do this or not.

I bladed by a bunch of people before deciding to go up to somebody (when I was really close to work). I asked: “Can I give this to you?” And put it out in front of me, and he took it.

I also left a note inside of it.

That was my tiny improvement for today. Here’s the note:

Dear total stranger, thanks for grabbing this book. You grabbed it right out of my hand. “Gimme that.” That’s what I remember. No but really, thanks… I hope you have a great day

Here’s the note:

Which okay - I did the thing that I said I was going to do… which was leave a note. But yo! super weird note, my guy! Leave a less weird note?! That’s one of those things that became instantly clear to me – like when I was in Home Depot last saturday at 835pm trying to see if they would chop me wood (1” x 4” x 8” – I needed 5 of those big, birch plywood cut into VERY specific sizes) – this is a mistake……

So!! Today’s LESSON LEARNED… I really want people to walk away from this whole interaction with a positive impression. Like… I don’t want to make someone’s day, but I don’t want to ruin it either. “You’re going to poop in your own pants.” That’s not necessarily, like, a kind message. And if they don’t think it’s funny, then… that’s… a bummer! So here: the note needs to be clear. This is for fun. This is a joke, and I’m wishing you well. I have your best interest at heart.
